Dove vs Greenpeace
Dove has had some thought provoking ads in the past , This one is very well thought of as well, and I enjoyed it. But what I really liked was Greenpeace’s response to it They have some other great videos on their youtube channel that are worth watching . Posted via email from Joao Rei’s ramblings | Comment »

Can you withstand 15 seconds of "non-torture"...
Would you consider waterboarding to be torture? Waterboarding is a technique used by the US in interrogations against suspected “terrorists”. Obama was quick to dismiss it, but many people connected with the previous Bush administration have now come out in its defence and saying that using waterboarding was not torture and should continue to be used. Here’s an interesting...

Too much free time in Helsinki
This is what happens to societies when they solve all the other problems they had to face. Helsinki’s urban rabbits have caused damage in excess of hundreds of thousands of euros Their main problem now is… rabbits!!  In the past two winters Helsinki’s burgeoning wild rabbit population - descendants of escaped or abandoned pet rabbits - has caused damage in the city’s parks running...

A Portuguese in the White House
After much speculation, the first Portuguese makes it to the White House.  A dog. A Portuguese water dog was chosen by the Obama family as the new White House dog . In what can only be described by a media frenzy, the web was filled with rumors about what dog would be the lucky pick, and in the end it was a Portuguese water dog. It’s as if the press has nothing better to discuss (Economy,...

The American bullies
I really like to discuss EU - US relations, and when Obama got elected, everyone in Europe cheered, for he was viewed as a moderate, not a maverick. It finally seemed that the US had (again) a president who saw Europe as, not only an important ally, but as an important player in world politics and economics. Of course when you add the financial crisis to the mix, people on both sides of the...
